Wayne Bishop

Marching Band Director

Mr. Bishop has been the Director of Bands at CR North since July 2015. Prior to that, he served as assistant director in the Tunkhannock School District and band director at Bethlehem Catholic High School. Wayne is a graduate of Pocono Mountain West High School and of Temple University with a Bachelor’s in Music Education and Certification in secondary math. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Music Education at University of the Arts. Wayne enjoys working alongside his wife, Jessica, and relaxing with their dogs, Wally and Franklin. An accomplished saxophonist, Wayne performs professionally at weddings and other venues.

Jennifer Michel

Ms. Michel has worked with CR North’s band since completing her student teaching there in the Spring of 2019. In the season following she worked with the Marching Band as a tech, and is pleased to be returning now as the Assistant Band Director. Jenn is a native of Rock Island, Illinois, and obtained her Bachelor’s in Music Education from the University of Northern Iowa. She currently works in the Pennsbury School District as an orchestra director at the elementary and middle school level. Jenn has been involved in marching band for ten years through high school and college: performing as a flute player, drum major, and sometimes making an appearance as Northern Iowa’s college mascot. While in college she performed in many esteemed ensembles such as the Northern Iowa Symphony Orchestra on both flute and violin, Northern Iowa Wind Ensemble, UNI Symphonic Band, and the Northern Iowa Flute Choir. While in Flute Choir Jenn was known as one of the top contrabass flute players in the country. Jenn loves learning new instruments, singing, and spending time with her dog, Lilly.

Color Guard Instructor

This is Larry’s fourth year as our Color Guard Instructor. Larry graduated from Pennsbury High School in 1995 where he was a member of the marching band for all four years. He played baritone for 3 years and was drum major his senior year. After graduation, Larry marched his first drum and bugle corps with the Reading Buccaneers horn line before switching sections to the color guard the following year. Since his time with the Buccaneers, he has marched several DCA drum corps. In 2007 and 2008 he was the Color Guard Caption Head for the Fusion Core Drum and Bugle Corps from New Jersey where he returned as a marching member and “aged out” in 2014. Along with marching band and drum corps, Larry has remained active in color guard during the winter seasons, marching The Guard and The Westshoremen Winter Guards as well as teaching at many local high schools in the area. Before coming to North in 2017, he designed and taught North Penn High School and Palisades High School outdoor and indoor color guard programs, winning local and state championships.

Hi! I am Paige Conner! I went to North Penn High School. I’ve been invoked in Color Guard since I was 12! Entering College I took a short break before joining Larry’s side as a guard tech. I graduated from Kutztown University in December 2019 with a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Psychology!

Jack McGinty

Jack McGinty is excited to begin his second year with CRN!  After graduating from Archbishop Ryan HS in 1983, Jack studied Percussion and Elementary Education at Temple University. Mr. McGinty has taught various percussion programs since 1984, including Archbishop Ryan, Cherry Hill West, Bishop Kenrick, Pennsauken and Bensalem HS. During the school year, Jack teaches music at Archbishop Ryan HS, as well as various Philadelphia public schools. On most weekends, Jack performs as a piano player and singer. Mr. McGinty recently got engaged to his first grade crush…and is getting married on December 6th!
Nash Helsel

Brass Instructor

Nash Helsel recently graduated Summa Cum Laude from West Chester University with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, with a French horn concentration. Mr. Helsel marched mellophone for all four years at Pennsbury High School, where he travelled with the band to Anaheim, California as well as Sydney, Australia. He also marched for the West Chester University “Incomparable” Golden Rams Marching Band, which became the first Division II school marching band in history to be awarded the Sudler Trophy by the John Philip Sousa Foundation in 2019. In addition to French horn, Mr. Helsel also is proficient in trumpet, guitar, bass guitar, and ukulele. Mr. Helsel is currently serving as Brass Technician for the Council Rock North High School Marching Band.

Joe Agger

Mr. Agger graduated from Archbishop Ryan in 2018 where he was in the marching band for 7 years. He was also in their All Catholic Jazz Band for 4 years as a lead trumpet player. Joseph is currently studying music education at Temple University and the Community College of Philadelphia. After high school Joseph was the brass and visual instructor at Bensalem High School. He also marched for Drum Corps International with the Raiders Drum and Bugle Corp and Jersey Surf Drum and Bugle Corp as a lead trumpet player and soloist. Joseph like playing Jazz and Broadway music and plays professionally for community theaters and other locales.
